Summers County Schools is seeking the help of our community to provide the best educational experience possible for our children.  Our excess levy proposal would provide enhanced academic and extra-curricular opportunities, increased student and staff safety, and facility maintenance.  This page will provide information for citizens to know more about how children and staff will benefit and financial information for families.

✅ What the Levy Will Include

  • Strengthened Student Support

    • Funding to maintain and enhance essential school-level support staff, including additional (above funding formula minimums) cooks, teachers, instructional aides, custodians, and other critical personnel who directly support student learning and daily school operations.

  • Expanded Academic & Extracurricular Opportunities

    • Coverage of transportation costs so students can access academic programs, enrichment activities, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities—ensuring equity and participation for all students.

  • Enhanced Outdoor Learning & Play Spaces

    • Necessary upgrades to outdoor learning and playground equipment at HAE and JBE, providing safer, more engaging spaces that promote physical activity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

  • Improved School Safety at JBE

    • Construction of a secure, controlled school entrance at JBE, bringing it in line with the other district schools and strengthening student and staff safety.

  • Facility Improvements District-Wide

    • Targeted updates to create safer, cleaner, and more welcoming learning and working environments for students and staff across the district, including improvements to the transportation department facilities.

  • Reliable Student Transportation

    • Purchase of a transportation vehicle to support the continued success, safety, and efficiency of the district’s bus fleet—helping ensure students arrive to and from school safely every day.

  • Increased Building Security

    • Installation of security window treatments at district schools to provide added protection and peace of mind for families, students, and staff.

  • Improved Parking Lot Lighting at SCHS

    • Upgraded lighting at SCHS to enhance safety and visibility for students, staff, and visitors attending evening events, activities, and performances.

B.❌ What the Levy Will Not Include

  • No Staff Raises

    • Levy funds will not be used to increase salaries or provide pay raises for district staff.

  • No New or Expanded Employee Benefits

    • The levy does not fund additional employee benefits beyond those already in place.

  • No Take‑Home or Personal-Use Vehicles

    • Levy funds will not be used to purchase vehicles for staff personal use, commuting, or non-student-related purposes.

    • Vehicles funded through the levy will be used solely to support student transportation and essential district operations.

Class 2- Most people are in this category.

Owner-occupied residential property used exclusively for residential purposes and all farmland used for agricultural purposes by its owner or bona fide tenant.

Class 3

All real and personal property situated outside a municipality that is not taxed in Class I & II.

Class 4

All property situated inside a municipality that is not taxed in Class I & II.
